Once a week, Monroe County Reporter (Georgia) columnist Steve Reece surprises thousands of readers with his insight into a wide range of subjects reflective of the culture, history, and diversity of the South and America in general. A Few Dogs in Heaven captures the everyday experiences of everyday people, with an eye to the complexities of life’s struggles. With humor, insight, and a passion for justice, this collection of columns is a must-read for those looking to delve into an honest exploration of life in the American South.
Reece began his professional writing career as a reporter for the Monroe County Reporter in Forsyth, Georgia in March 2020. Before that time, Reece was working full-time behind the counter at a local convenience store. A place he used for fodder for some of his stories you can read in his new book “I Know a Few Dogs in Heaven.
His duties at the weekly newspaper include writing his weekly column, “Reece’s Pieces”, reporting on local crime, and writing a weekly series about everyday heroes in Monroe County, Georgia.
